It's the little things in life. The small gestures, the subtle details, life's simple pleasures, and random acts of kindness. Springfield Mercantile Co. is a modern general store for the practical person who won't compromise on quality or aesthetics and for those who enjoy living a slow, simple, sustainable lifestyle.
We are here for those who want to live with less; for those who believe in quality over quantity; those who believe that variety and diversity strengthens communities; those who love the feeling that comes from being self-sufficient and self-reliant, and for those who feel good when supporting creative endeavors. As independent retailers in the historic Commercial District of Springfield, Missouri we take our time searching high and low looking for interesting, unique, nature-inspired finds you won’t see everywhere else in town.
With Nature as our inspiration, our quaint (read, "small") retail space is soothing and minimalist. In back, we have a small atelier which serves as our Commercial Textile Studio. We aim to produce high-quality goods made from natural materials we love. Today, we are prototyping various home goods using natural textiles, classic forms, and muted colors. Once we’ve honed our skills and perfected our craft, we will produce for ourselves and other small businesses, as well as special orders and custom work upon request.
Technology can never capture the character and integrity of our classic turn-of-the-century building, but our website should give you the flavor of our shop. Whether you are shopping for yourself or for a gift, you should find a thoughtful mix of hand-crafted practical utilities for service, as well as small luxuries for beauty and comfort. All from creators that turn the mundane and ordinary into the interesting and extraordinary.
Browse the website to get a sense of our offering, and stop by to say hello the next time you are on Commercial Street. And if you haven’t been to C-Street lately, there's a variety of retail shops, live entertainment, great ethnic and down home food options and a seasonal Farmer's Market that starts-up in April! E-mail me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org, and follow us on Instragram @springfieldmercantile.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
